Shimokitazawa is a hip enclave of Tokyo that, surprisingly, many foreigners have never visited. Shimokita is full of unique shops and cafes, most targeting the Japanese college students who make it their home. I lived there for a couple of years and wrote most of these blogs during that time. *Be aware that shops and restaurants come and go very quickly in Tokyo these days. Some of these entries may no longer exist.
